Abstract
There exist great differences of pronunciation between Min dialect and Mandarin Chinese. Many characters which are different in pronunciation in the latter are quite similar in sound in the former. Therefore, the similar articulation culture with unique features has formed. Such culture generally has two types: taboo and blessing, which specifically are shown in the custom of similar articulation, renaming of things, and idioms. The study of the phonetic characteristics of Min dialect can be a great help to the probe into formation and distribution of the similar articulation culture and its authenticity.
