    On Influence of Photography on ZHANG Da-qian’s Painting Arts

    • ZHANG Da-qian had learned essence from other people and given it a good digestion. He rooted his painting in Chinese artistic tradition and gave it a constant innovation, which led to his status as a master of arts. Besides his absorption of strengths of artists of various generations, he was good at taking in the nutrition from other artistic forms, and photographic art was one of the origins for his paintings. The elements like shadow, perspectivity, composition of picture, color and perspectives exerted great influence on ZHANG’s paintings. And this led to his change of painting styles and became one of his reasons to create ink and color splashing painting.
