On ZHANG Da-qian’s Family Academic Traditions

ZHANG Da-qian has been considered the master of Chinese painting in 20th century. The family tradition of adoring poems and rites, hardworking and honesty, education from his capable and wise parents and help from his brothers or sisters like ZHANG Shan-ma, ZHANG Zheng-heng and ZHANG Wen-xiu in arts and Chinese studies, all these exerted great influence on ZHANG’s achievements in painting and calligraphy.
