    The Study of “龙” and Dragon in Perspestive of Cognitive

    • Controversies have been aroused on the point of the seemingly equivalents between the Chinese term “龙” and the English term “dragon”. Based on the analysis of the two terms from the perspective of cognitive frame and construal, it is discovered there is no chance for “龙” and “dragon” to be equivalent indeed, due to their lack of corresponding entity in reality and their distinctiveness in semantic frame elements. In view of this, the translator should be decided to create in terms of the respective cognitive frame and their cultural use, so as to reduce the misunderstanding to the minimal extent and promote communication.
