Abstract
The Economic Geography is an important branch of Geography. The current teaching of Economic Geography places too much emphasis on theories while giving inadequate attention to the cultivation of practical abilities; overstresses the teaching of basic theories while taking almost no notice of methodological teaching; the renewal of teaching content is much too slow and some parts of its content badly in need of strengthening; and students’ lack of geographical quality is quite a serious problem. Thus,based on an elaboration of CDIO and a feasibility analysis of applying CDIO to the teaching reform of economic geography, a CDIO-based teaching reform plan is thus taking shape, which means the transformation of teaching ideology, the setting-up of a brand-new assessment concept, the optimization of teaching content, the reform of teaching method, process and the strengthening of teaching practice.
