A Brief Study of ZHAO Zhen-ji’s Military Thoughts CHEN Shi-ying

ZHAO Zhen-ji, YANG Sheng-an, REN Shao-hai, and XIONG Nan-sha altogether were called “Four Great Writers of Sichuan” in Ming Dynasty. And ZHAO Zhen-ji was a loyal chancellor who dared to denounce YAN Song who did harm to country. His military thoughts mainly include the flexible strategy which stressed necessary war and negotiation, attention to the flexible defense, separation of five departments, and stress the function of encouragement and punishment in the army.
