On the Discourse of Cultural Governance for Chinese Aesthetic Education

    • A defining characteristic of the tradition of Chinese aesthetic education is its emphasis on generating individual self-discipline and self-shaping through aesthetic ethics. This process aims to realize the harmonious ideal of social order. Within the modern framework of cultural governance, the objective of such education is to achieve social harmony through the individual aesthetic cultivation. Around the ritual and music edification and self-cultivation for moral personhood, it has constructed the logic of cultural governance that integrates aesthetics with ethics. In the new context of the 21st century, the aesthetic education is imperative to advance research on the modern transformation of the ethos of the Chinese aesthetic education. We should promote its integration with contemporary cultural governance systems and establish an aesthetic education practice paradigm with Chinese characteristics. Ultimately, this will provide theoretical support and practical paths for social harmony and civilizational development.
