A Probe into the Guiding Capacity of the Education of Moral and Core Values of Teachers for Their Courses in the Digital Age

    • It is of paramount importance to exert the guiding capacity of education of moral and core values (EMCV) of teachers in their courses. The exertion is crucial for building China into an education powerhouse and cultivating a new generation for the present age. This guiding capacity comprises four core dimensions: political guidance, moral shaping, emotional appeal, and practical instruction. Against the backdrop of digital transformation, the integration of digital technologies poses new challenges to the exercise of this capacity in teaching. The manifestation of these challenges is threefold. Namely, teachers’ guiding capacity of EMCV is weakened by the decentralized digital space, eroded by digital overreach, and attenuated by the constraints of information cocoons. To mitigate these risks, a multifaceted approach is essential. It involves consolidating the teachers’ foundational competencies, enhancing their digital literacy, aligning digital technologies with pedagogical values, and improving digital governance. Through these concerted efforts, teachers’ guiding capacity of EMCV can be fully and effectively realized in the digital age.
