On the Translation and Communication of Emei Martial Arts in the Context of Converged Media

Emei martial arts (EMA) is an indispensable part of Chinese martial arts history and a vital embodiment of the humanistic spirit of the Bashu (current City of Chongqing and Sichuan Province) culture. In the era of the integration of traditional and new media, the translation and communication of EMA faces dual challenges:the precise transmission of cultural nuances and effective audience reception. Based on translation-communication studies, this paper systematically explores the translation and communication process of EMA from four aspects. The four aspects are communication subjects and objects, media selection, audience analysis, and communication effects. In terms of translation strategies, a dynamic balance based on the three core functions of texts is essential to reconcile cultural fidelity with target audience comprehension. As for media selection, the integration between traditional media and new media is emphasized. The former ensures authority and depth, while the latter enhances reception and interactivity. Regarding audience analysis, stratification of the audience is required. For core practitioners, terminological precision is reinforced; the general public cultural symbolism is highlighted, and for younger audiences, digital experiences are developed. Communication effectiveness evaluations show that the current overseas dissemination of EMA reaches a large number of people abroad, only a few truly grasp its cultural essence. For the realization of precise communication and ecosystem construction, it is imperative to ensure terminology standardization, stratified content distribution, and technological empowerment.
