On TAO Xingzhi’s Philosophy of Ecological Education

    • TAO Xingzhi’s philosophy of ecological education (PEE) represents the essence of his educational thought. PEE constitutes cultural-ethical advancement for constructing a ecological civilization in future, and for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Based on the theoretical connotations and practical characteristics of ecological education, TAO’s philosophy can be summarized through three key aspects: the habitat-oriented purpose of education, the organic nature of educational content, and the growth-oriented process of education. In the practice of building ecological civilization in China, highlighting Tao’s PEE contributes to the cultivation of eco-citizens, the establishment of ecological schools, the creation of ecological curricula, and the development of an ecological society.
