Abstract
The strategy that a borrowed boat from the other may serve to sail was a highly effective one of international communication. The Communist Party of China (CPC) explored and applied the strategy during the period of China’s resistance against Japanese aggression nationwide when China’s international publicity was weak and its external environment was extremely unfavorable. However, in research on over one hundred years of international publicity history of CPC, the strategy of Borrowing a Boat for Sailing is often mentioned briefly or even omitted. The strategy has not received due justice to its remarkable historical contribution. Relevant historical documents were explored. And both the period of China’s resistance against Japanese aggression nationwide and the strategy by CPC during that period are examined systematically. The content of research on the history of international publicity is augmented, and successful historical experiences can be drawn. Positive insights and lessons for strengthening the construction of international communication capabilities today are provided as well.
