Abstract
The Randeng Script contains a large number of colloquial Chinese Zi (characters). These colloquial Chinese Zi are products that have been conventionally established through long-term writing practices. Their emergence and evolution represent ethnic characteristics of cognition, and are deeply influenced by internal psychological factors of the transcribers. Therefore, discussions on the generation and evolution of colloquial Chinese Zi in the Randeng Script are further explored from the perspective of cognitive science, combining perception, intellect, and other cognitive conceptions. This study could offer new perspectives for related issues such as the evolution of colloquial Chinese Zi and new approaches to identifying difficult colloquial Chinese zi.
