Four-Dimensional Approaches to Integrating the Traditional Principle of Shu Dao into Modern Social Governance

As one of the most important thoughts of Confucianism, the traditional principle of Shu Dao contains some wise counsel, such as reflecting on one’s faults and limitations, treating others in one’s own position and empathizing with others. Thus, by actively absorbing the nutrients of the traditional principle of Shu Dao, we shall give full play to its role in consolidating the foundation of social governance, and constantly strengthen the guidance of Party building; by making full use of the principle of Shu Dao, we shall innovate the ideology of governance and highlight the implicit public spirit; by fully incorporating the principle of Shu Dao, we shall improve the governance mechanism, and further optimize the integration of resources; and finally by infiltrating the principle of Shu Dao, we shall enhance the modern social governance pattern and promote cooperative governance. All these four approaches will help to further propel the modernization of Chinese social governance.
