A Preface to Romance of Three Kingdoms in Annotated Edition

On the basis of an overview of new development in the research of Romance of Three Kingdoms in the past 40 years, this paper has made a relatively overall analysis on some fundamental but important issues, such as the novel’s written time, writer, title , ideological connotation, and artistic achievement.In addition, it has put forward a series of new views which help to clarify some inaccurate and even wrong understandings of this novel.Further, it has made a brief review of commenting history of Romance of Three Kingdoms, explained the necessity for new comment on the novel, and expounded the features in proofreading, annotation and comment of this book.
