    • To explore the relationship between self-restraint, self-esteem, self-efficacy and social adaptation of left-behind junior high school students, aquestionnaire survey is conducted among 780 left-behind junior high school students by means of the Chinese version of the Rosenberg self-esteem scale, the general self-efficacy scale and the children’s youth social adjustment scale. The results showed that: (1) the self-restraint, self-respect and self-efficacy of left-behind junior high school students were positively correlated with social adaptation. (2) the self-restraint of left-behind junior high school students can directly affect their social adaptation level, and can also indirectly affect social adaptation level through multiple intermediary effects of self-esteem and self-efficacy.To sum up, self-esteem, self-efficacy play a multiple intermediary role in the relationship between self-restraint and social adaptation of left-behind junior high school students.
