Through the contrast of revised sounds between A Table of Authorized Variant Pronunciation in Mandarin Chinese(Revised) and Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition) , this paper has found that the two have their own focus in the principles while revising sounds. The former has paid more attention to the use of some words with variant pronunciation in people’s daily life. While the latter is a medium-sized Chinese dictionary. It keeps some dialects and archaism since it attaches importance to practical use and inheritance.
