    • The “tiger fan” ZHANG Shan-ma expressed his thoughts through ink. During the period of the national disaster, he composed hundreds of paintings with Anti-Japanese War as the subject. This pioneered the propaganda paintings of the War in fine arts field. The newly found paintings in America, A Tiger down the Mountain and Heads up in the Air, were created by ZHANG for relief in America. This showed his strong national consciousness.
