On “Practicing” and “Guiding” in Chinese Teaching

    • The successful Chinese teaching is characterized by emphasis on the paradigm of action, practice and guidance, among which the last two should be advocated in such teaching. From the connotation of guidance and practice, they are significant in methodology, and are the two main ways of the teaching, in which practice serves as the main line, guidance serves for practice. The two are united, which highlights the subjectivity of both students and teachers, and meanwhile, the objects of each other. The effective guidance and practice should avoid the exercise-oriented strategy, pursuit for anything new or different, indulgence and incorrect guidance.
