A Probe into the Roots of JIA Ying-chun's Tragedy and Its Value

    • As a bastardy with no care from the family, the second miss of Family JIA —— JIA Ying-chun, has formed her coward character and is ignored because of her poor health and limited caliber. Therefore, she has to seek for her own spiritual consolation through her faith and which advocates no pursuit. She does not have her own idea and has become cold and indifferent when getting along with other people, and finally is tortured to death by her husband. Her tragedy is not only the tragedy of her marriage which is determined by her parents, but the tragedy of Taoist faith which leads to no good fate. It is the death of the lady who always flatters others and holds herself aloof from the world that enriches the connotation of A Dream of Red Mansions.
