Investigation of the Classroom Question-raising Problem Among the Lower Grade Students in Primary Schools

    • The investigation finds that: the lower grade primary pupils have got in the habit of asking questions in class and their question-raising enthusiasm depends largely on the teacher's attitude towards the questions raised and the way in which the question is raised; the types of questions raised are related to the pupil's family environment; the tackling manner of the teacher differs drastically with the degree of diff iculty of the questions; the teacher's tackling approach is closely related to the region from which the teacher comes; there exists educational inequality between different regions. Therefore, classroom question raising acts must be encouraged for the protection of pupils' question-raising enthusiasm; the examination-oriented teaching approach must be changed, more heuristic and more explorative approaches be used and students' questioning be encouraged; the authorities in charge of education should push forward the exchange between the rural and urban teachers so as to narrow the gap lying in between the countryside and cities.
