Abstract: p-bis (2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)azo-y1 benzene and p-bis (5-methy1-2-hydroxyhheny1)azo-y1 were designed and synthesized. Infrared spectrum spectra and elemental analysis were used to confirm the structure of the two compounds. Both compounds showed strong absorption in range of 300～500 nm, indicating that they are good UV-absorbing materials
