Abstract:
76 secondary school teachers were selected as our research subjects adopting the scale of SCL-90,in this study,76 research reports investigated the secondary school teachers' mental healthwith SCL-90 as a tool and a meta-analysis was conducted to explore the overall status, the development trend and the group differences of the secondary school teachers' mental health from the year 2000 to 2011.The results show the mental health level of the secondary school teachers was significantly lower than that of the national norms proposed by Jin Hua et al; their scores of somzatization, anxiety andhorrorlevel were all very significantly higher than the combined norm by Tang Qiuping et al; the teachers' mental health declined significantly in the latter six years in terms of the interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety andhorror; female teachers were found to score a significantly higher score in respects of anxiety and terror than their male counterparts; except the interpersonal sensitivity and crankiness poranoia, the class teachers score a lot higher than those non class teachers in terms of all the relevant factors. It is clear that the secondary school teachers' mental health is much too poor, and special attention should be paid to the female teachers and the class teachers; the 1986 norms set by JIN-Hua et al have gone out of date
