Abstract: Since the 1980s, the Marxist alienation theory has attracted the wide attention from philosophy and sociology, and has made great achievements. However, the double effect of alienation in such theory has got inadequate attention and universal recognition. The academic field has often overstressed the critic connotation of alien concept and neglected the Marx's confirmation of the alien phenomenon in his early years. The similar inclination also appears in the Lukac's and Weber's understanding of alienation. In today's world in which alien phenomenon universally exists and alien problems are serious as well, the dialectal, overall and scientific expatiation of the double effect of alienation is not only the internal requirement for the further study of Marxist philosophy, but the manifestation of significance of such philosophy
