Abstract: WANG Shi-mao was a versatile writer in the middle of Ming Dynasty. And the current researches around him mainly focused on his poetic theories, thoughts and comments on New Anecdotes of Social Talk. However, his poems and articles have been waiting to be sorted up. It is quite pressing to make the search into his life story, traveling, main works, the relationship between his poetic thoughts and his time, family background and the place he was in. Further, we should find out his influence on HU Ying-lin's poetic thoughts, his relationship with Seven Great Poets and Gong'an School, the real value of Picking up the Remaining in Art Garden, and the comments on his literary thoughts
