Abstract: Agricultural land suitability evaluation is an important link of land use planning. Extensive and in-depth suitability evaluation researches have been carried out to find out about the agricultural lands in China: the evaluation scope is characteristic of regional characteristics, and the evaluation indicators are comprehensive and diversified; the evaluation technologies and means are ever renewing with an obvious modeling trend; the combination of GIS technology with mathematical means and model has ensured the accuracy, scientificalness in farm lands suitability evaluation. With the introduction of theory of the landscape ecology, the farm land suitability evaluation is gaining still greater attention and the renewal of research methods and theories is the core.
