Abstract: ZHENG Xiao xu had long been one of directors of Commercial Press. And he had witnessed the early complex development of the press. Meanwhile, he played a quite important role in many of its affairs. The press provided not only his main income for his life in Shanghai, but the places in which he contacted the local scholars. This made him quickly fuse into their circle. However, ZHENG took the press as a temporary perching place. Once when Puyi regime threw their olive branch to him, he would head for them without any hesitation and serve for those remaining forces of Qing Dynasty.
