Abstract:
An investigation of the academic stress among middle school students in Neijiang is intended to get to know about the grade and gender characteristics,and the change law. 353 middle school students were surveyed with Personal basic information questionnaire and Middle school students’ academic stressors questionnaire. Middle school students’ academic stress is at the upper middle level; significant difference is found among urban and rural high school students in terms of their academic stress, competitive stress, others’ expectation stress. From 7th graders to 11th graders the academic stress level takes a basic linear upward trend with 11th graders having the highest levels of stress of all. The grade difference is significant between 11th graders and the other 7th, 8th, 9th and 12th graders, indicating that the middle school students’ academic stress is at an upper middle level, with a statistically significant grade difference.
