Abstract: The structure “modifier + personal pronoun” has become the one which is rich in vitality and expressiveness in modern Chinese. The attitude of the Chinese circle toward it has changed from negation or reservation to affirmation. The phenomenon that the structure sprouts and comes into being surely has its own special pragmatic value. This paper has made an analysis on the structure from the linguistic expression and discourse. And the author holds that the structure is the best example of working of language. The modifier and the head can be transformed into each other. The modifier does not necessarily improve the degree of reference and it can also be taken as semantic statement. The employment of such structure is a kind of encoding strategy of the speaker or the writer. Either in the position of the theme or of the object, it has the emphatic function. We use such structure sheerly out of the need of contextual logic, linguistic expression and information communication.
