Abstract:
There were a lot of works simulated after A Collection of Strange Tales in Qing dynasty. Though they were derived, they had their own unique style and features, which are mainly expressed in the consciousness of expostulation, history-like record, sense of humor, vivid impression of time, etc. Their formation was closely related to the traditional intellectuals’ Confucian feelings, the authors’ creating psychology, the conception of novels at that time, and the learning styles during Qianlong and Jiaqing periods. Grasping the main characteristics of simulated works of A Collection of Strange Tales can help to establish its peculiar value and position in the history of classical novels.
