A Study of Connotation of Qinhuai in Tang and Song Poetry
-
Abstract: Qinhuai is a river in geography. The word appeared repeatedly in Tang and Song poetry. Thus, it gradually evolved from a simply geographic term to a cultural symbol with rich connotation. Such evolution has its root and trace. It experienced its sprouting period in Tang and later Five Dynasties and it underwent its full development in the two Song Dynasties. It can be safely said that the Tang and Song poetry is the mother of Qinhuai’s political and cultural connotation and it endows the word with the intoning of rising and fall in history and the internal awareness of space and time.
