Technological innovation, new quality productivity and industrial structure upgrading

摘要: 产业结构升级是经济高质量发展的核心引擎,而技术创新为驱动产业结构升级注入了新动力.本文基于2012-2021年中国省级面板数据,构建空间计量模型与中介效应模型,系统探究了技术创新对产业结构升级的影响机制及其空间效应.研究发现:技术创新不仅显著推动本地产业结构升级,还通过空间关联机制对邻近地区有正向溢出作用.从作用机制来看,技术创新通过促进新质生产力的发展,有效驱动了产业结构的升级.异质性分析表明:技术创新对产业结构升级的影响在中部地区最为显著,且存在明显的空间溢出效应.本文系统验证技术创新与产业结构升级之间的空间效应以及新质生产力的内在传导机制,为我国技术创新与产业结构升级的协同发展提供政策启示.Abstract: Industrial structure upgrading serves as a core engine for high-quality economic development, with technological innovation injecting new momentum into this process. Based on provincial panel data from China (2012-2021), this study constructs spatial econometric models and mediating effect models to systematically investigate the impact mechanism of technological innovation on industrial structure upgrading and its spatial effects. The findings reveal that technological innovation not only significantly drives local industrial structure upgrading but also generates positive spillover effects on neighboring regions through spatial correlation mechanisms. Regarding the mechanism, technological innovation effectively facilitates industrial structure upgrading by promoting the development of new quality productivity. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that the driving effect of technological innovation on industrial structure upgrading is most pronounced in the central region, accompanied by significant spatial spillover effects. This study systematically verifies the spatial effects between technological innovation and industrial structure upgrading, as well as the intrinsic transmission mechanism of new quality productivity, providing policy implications for the synergistic development of technological innovation and industrial structure upgrading in China.
