Abstract:
LU Bi’s
San Guo Zhi Ji Jie (
Synthesis of Annotations on the Records of the Three Kingdoms, SARTK), as the magnum opus of annotations on
San Guo Zhi (
Records of the Three Kingdoms), holds seminal value for both textual criticism of
San Guo Zhi and historiographical research on the Three Kingdoms period. However, it has sparked scholarly debates regarding sentence segmentation and indicators of proper nouns. The punctuation-edited edition of
SARTK published by Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House (SABPH) builds upon LU’s foundational annotations. It introduces systematic textual verification and hermeneutical innovation. As a result, the study of
SARTK is elevated to a qualitatively new scholarly paradigm. Despite the progresses made by the punctuated edition of
SARTK by SABPH, there remain certain unresolved issues in sentence segmentation and indicators of proper nouns. For illustrative purposes, this study examines
Biographies of DONG,
LIU, MA, CHEN, DONG, and
LYU in Volume 39
of Shu Books. Discrepancies and ambiguities are enumerated in this study for the benefit of future research.
