Abstract:
The metaverse represents a virtual digital realm that integrates multiple dimensions, including reality and virtual reality. The convergence of new technologies, new thinking, and new methodologies offers significant potential for the development of morals and values education (MVE) in higher education institutions. However, the process of empowering MVE through the metaverse also presents numerous challenges. The challenges can be posed by internet technologies, the design of educational content, security concerns regarding privacy and copyright, and identity from digital subjects. These factors impose higher demands on how the metaverse can effectively enhance MVE in universities. To improve the effectiveness of such education, the integration of the metaverse into the education must follow three aspects. Firstly, interactive technologies are leveraged to foster methodological innovation. Secondly, the blockchain technology is utilized to enhance security. Thirdly, digital tools are employed to promote the comprehensive development of individuals within the MVE context.
