Abstract:
The Ba-shu school of painting holds an important position in the development of Chinese art of painting. Following the prosperity of Tang and Song Dynasties, the school gradually reached a stage of advanced development during Ming and Qing Dynasties. Therefore, a distinctive artistic style was formed. The development of the school is systematically dissected in The Second Volume of
Historical Discourses of the Ba-shu School of Painting whose focus is on the achievements and key figures of the school in modern times. The second volume fully commends the value and status of the school in Chinese art history. New ground is broken in various aspects in this volume. The volume encourages more scholars to study the Ba-shu school of painting. Furthermore, it deeply reveals the historical significance of the school so that a unique perspective and foundation are provided for a comprehensive understanding of this artistic school.
