Abstract:
LU Tong, a poet in Tang Dynasty, often intentionally demonstrated a clear and full self-awareness in his poetry. As a result, his self-referential writing was highlighted in his poems. LU adopted self-referential writing more frequently than most poets from Tang and Song Dynasties. More importantly, his self-referential writing also conveyed a clear self-identity review and rationality. The self-referential writing is manifested differently in different personal pronouns. This mode of rational self-examination through the self-referential writing not only provides an example for self-referential writing in Song Dynasties, but also becomes an important transition from Tang to Song Dynasties in Chinese poetry.
