Abstract:
Life education (LE) in early childhood is the most fundamental part of LE in one’s entire life. LE in early childhood can effectively enhance children’s correct understanding, comprehension, and feelings towards life. Picture books serve as an important medium to reflect the spiritual world of children through a combination of pictures and texts. LE for children, owing to picture books, helps them understand the essence of life, experience emotions related to life, develop a sense of life, and nurture their own life. However, there are three problems found in the teaching process in kindergartens in China. Firstly, the value of LE through picture books tends to be overlooked. Secondly, there is one-sided interpretation of the essence of LE for children. Thirdly, a limited range of activities are adopted. To address the three issues, teachers of the children need to explore specific strategies to realize the contribution of picture books to promoting LE in early childhood.
