Abstract:
After 1950, ZHANG Daqian lived in Argentina, Brazil, the United States, and other countries for over twenty years. From the beginning of his residence abroad, he sold his collection of art treasures at low prices to the cultural heritage authorities. He also donated copies of Dunhuang murals that he had copied in his early years to the Sichuan Museum and the National Palace Museum in Taibei, Taiwan China. In his later years, ZHANG settled in Taibei and donated his collection of art treasures of national treasure to the National Palace Museum in Taibei. Under ZHANG’s influence, SUN Kai, the son of his disciple, in accordance with his father’s will, donated ZHANG’s art works and personal belongings collected by SUN’s father to the People’s Government of Chengdu City. All of these actions reflect ZHANG’s patriotism and his dedication to art serving the nation, inspiring future generations of painters.
