Abstract: In order to investigate the influence of Chinese university students' virtuous personality on their mate personality preference, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 1537 college students by means of the Chinese virtuous personality scale, human mate preferences scale, social dominance orientation scale, ambivalent sexism inventory. The results showed that: (1) university students' mate personality preference was positively correlated with their Chinese virtuous personality, and negatively correlated with social dominance orientation and contradictory ambivalent sexism. (2) Chinese virtuous personality can significantly predict mate personality preference, and it can also predict mate personality preference through the chain mediation of social dominance orientation and contradictory ambivalent sexism. (3) Social dominance orientation and ambivalent sexism have little significant separate mediating effect between Chinese virtuous personality and mate selecting preference. The results reveal the influence of university students' virtuous personality on their individual mate selecting preference and the mechanism of operation, which is of certain guiding significance for psychological health education among college students in love.
