Abstract:
Interpersonal emotion regulation refers to episodes occurring in the context of a live social interaction, and representing the pursuit of an emotion regulatory goal.It includes two types of intrinsic and extrinsic interpersonal regulation, and two strategies of response-dependent and response-independent.Present researches rely on Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (IERQ) developed by Hofmann et al as the main measurement tool. However, research in this regard is still retarded for lack of proper tools for measurement, in-depth researches, and practical applications.Future research efforts should be directed to the following aspects:the design of more reliable tools for measurement;the individual difference in the selection of emotion regulation strategy and in the process of making such a choice;the application of interpersonal emotion regulation in the fields of treating mental disturbance and psychotherapy.
