Abstract:
By means of adopting different paradigms of perception, a research is made to find out about the effect of dif-
ferent cue types and the cue-timing upon the visual working memory. In Experiment1, the items for memory are four different circular color lumps shown on a screen, the cue type was spatial. In Experiment2, the items for memory are four different cir- cular color rings shown on screen, the cue was spatial cue or color cue, and the objective was to observe the effect of different cueonworking memory. The two experiments find: (1) Cue-type promotes visual working memory performance. (2) In terms of the reaction time, spatial cue produces a better result than the color cue. (3) In terms of the accuracy rate, the pre- cue hint produces a better result than retro-cue. (4) There exists obvious interaction between the cue types and cue-presentative positions.
