Abstract: it is the core function and mission of a university to foster the entrepreneurship and innovative spirit in advocating college students serving the society. A huge gap is lying between the reality and the required standards for fostering the innovative spirit in college students in aspects like the educational philosophy, talents cultivation scheme, educational teaching mode, quality evaluation of talents and the judging criterion, which is chiefly found in the lack of innovative ideas for educational pedagogy, educational mode being inefficient to turn out innovative talents and so on. From a macro-perspective, some measures to safeguard the production of innovative spirit and entrepreneurship in college students are put forth: first, the educational ministry of state should include the cultivation of innovative spirit and entrepreneurship in college students into the overall plan of talents quality; secondly higher institutes of education should reform their out-of-date concepts so as to guide colleges and universities to adjust to new changes from the perspective of starting up a new business.
