Abstract: By applying the method of literature, a study is made of the sports culture connotation and its characteristics in traditional means of Chinese transportation. Results show that the geographic differences in China, the social division of labor, the large quantities of separate kingdoms, and progress of social civilization have jointly provided a rich source for the formation and development of traditional transportation vehicles in the three principal area of water, land and ice/snow sports whose connotation features showed a strong practicability, compatibility to the geographical environment and the adaptability and respectability towards natural laws. Such features and cultural connotation lays a substantial foundation for the traditional means of transportation getting evolved into sports equipment and it has played a significant role in the inheritance and development of traditional sports culture in China.
