Abstract: JIN Yi's creation always took the towns as the objects for criticism, which was highly in accordance with the main stream of modern literature, and meanwhile was inseparable with his emotional factors. The strong subjective sense toward the negative aspects of urban civilization influenced his depth of criticism. However, his revelation of people's spiritual alienation brought by modern towns in his works already reached certain depth. And this is of positive significance to make reflections on the subject concerning modernity.
