Abstract: ZHANG Da-qian is an encyclopedic giant in the history of Chinese painting. He made comprehensive contributions to the fine arts of 20th century: absorption of excellent elements of Chinese classic paintings, paintings of all aspects, simultaneous development of all branches of painting, a large amount of collection of art, incomparable ability of art appreciation, artistic traces all around the country, the creation of ink-splash painting, the first man to study Dunhuang Art, versatile art genius, and an important disseminator of Chinese fine arts.
