Abstract: The first chapter of A Dream of Red Mansions implies the philosophy concerning one's position. From the situations of the author himself, the stone and JIA family, the novel gradually enters the dream of red mansions through the author's recalling of book writing, the stone's biography, the dream made by ZHEN Shi-yin, and JIA Yu-cun's stories which are linked with those of Bao-yu and Dai-yu with flashback designing. In the development of various situations and coincidence, like that of the dream of red mansions with the dream of Daohong Room, the author also shows the philosophical proposition concerning the life existence, which implies the core one concerning life and death, and pessimistic philosophical view “life like a dream”.
