    Cultural Interpretation of TANG Zhen’s Theory concerning Yue

    • 摘要: 唐甄所著《潜书》,汇集了众多的文化词,“悦”便是其一。长期以来,学界对唐甄晚年大力提倡的“悦”道说解纷纭,直接影响着人们对唐甄及其思想的解读与研判。从《潜书》文本语义分析,唐甄“悦”道不是走向自我适意和自我放任,而是由超越现实困境的个体自适与心忧天下的士子情怀构成,包含了旷达淡然的人生追求、超然物外的生命体悟、安贫乐道的士人情怀等文化内涵。唐甄“悦”道与其经世传统、批判精神并不矛盾,而是不同层面展开的问题,体现了不一样的人生追求。

       

      Abstract: The TANG Zhen’s work A Book of Latency contains many cultural words and “yue” is one of them. For a long time, there have been a lot of interpretations of TANG’s theory of “yue” which was proposed in his late years in the academic circle. These have directly exerted influence on people’s understanding and judgment of the scholar and his thoughts. From the semantic analysis of the work, we can find that TANG’s “yue” is not the movement to self-comfort and self-indulgence, but the individual comfort which surmounts the realistic predicament and the scholars’ feelings, which include the cultural connotations as his broad-minded and calm life attitude, understanding of life above all things, and willingness to suffer and bowing to his fate. Such theory of “yue ” is not contradicted with his tradition of experiencing life and critic spirit, but an issue on another level which shows his different life pursuit.
