Abstract:
Rosenberg's self-esteem scale, IAT Paradigm, Gross's emotion regulation questionair, positive affection and negative affection scale and satisfaction of life scale were employed to find out about the relationship between self -esteem, emotion regulation and subjective well-being(SWB)among 329 college students. The results showed that: compared with their female peers, the male students are found to have a stronger degree of expression suppression, negative emotion and a lower life satisfaction; There exists a significantly positive correlation between the implicit self-esteem and the other three indices of cognitive reappraisal, expression suppression, and negative emotions; the implicit self-esteem can positively predict negative emotions; the explicit self-esteem can directly and positively predict cognitive reappraisal, positive emotions and life satisfaction, and negatively predict negative emotions and expression suppression; and the cognitive reappraisal and expression suppression play a mediating role in between the explicit self esteem and the subjective well-being.
